Liver Inflammation

Artemisia annua clinical trials indicate recovery from acute liver failure.

An inflamed liver, hepatomegaly or liver inflammation, occurs when the organ becomes larger than normal. It is a very serious condition as inflammation may derive from a more serious disease such as any of the hepatitis viruses. Rather than a disease, an enlarged liver is the sign of an underlying problem such as liver disease, congestive heart failure or cancer. The liver is one of the most important organs in our body since it is responsible for converting food into energy, removal of toxins from the blood and regulating the levels of amino acids and fats, among many other functions. Over time, conditions that damage the liver can lead to scarring cirrhosis, which can cause liver failure, a life -threatening condition. Early treatment may help the liver time to heal. Cirrhosis of the liver affected about 2.8 million people and resulted in 1.3 million deaths in 2015 (Wikipedia). Clinical trials demonstrate that Artemisia annua extract is a promising treatment for protection against and recovery from liver damage, as well as for maintenance of liver health.
